Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Orbit (“the App”) is provided by wikivn (“we”, “us”, or “the developer”). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App accesses, how it is used, where it is stored, and the choices available to you.

Orbit works on your Android device. We operate no server, and nothing the App does sends your data to us.

• The App contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting, or tracking software of any kind.
• Information about installed apps is used only on your device, to provide Orbit’s app list, search, Quick launch dock, notifications, Bubbles, edge panel, and launcher shortcuts.
• Orbit offers a paid subscription, Orbit Pro, sold and processed by Google Play. Your payment details go to Google, never to us. All Orbit keeps is a single yes-or-no flag on your device recording whether the subscription is active.
• We do not collect, receive, or sell your personal information.

Android’s backup and device-transfer services may copy the limited preferences described below to your own backup account or another device. The developer cannot access those backups.

2. Permissions the App requests

Orbit requests the following. Several are declared by the Google Play Billing Library the App includes in order to sell its subscription, rather than by Orbit’s own code; they are listed here anyway, because they appear on your device’s permission screen and you are entitled to know what they are for.

Orbit does not request QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES, and does not request Android’s notification-listener access. It cannot read the contents of notifications from other apps.

You can deny or revoke POST_NOTIFICATIONS and SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW in Android Settings at any time. Quick launch, Bubbles and the edge panel stop working without them; nothing else in the App is affected.

3. Network access

Orbit’s own code makes no network requests. It has no server to contact, and none of your app list, preferences or Quick launch selections is transmitted anywhere by the App.

The INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE and WAKE_LOCK permissions come from the Google Play Billing Library, which Orbit includes so that the subscription can be offered and purchased. That library talks to the Google Play Store app installed on your device, which is what actually contacts Google. Anything sent in the course of that is handled by Google under Google’s own Privacy Policy, not by us, and we receive none of it.

4. Purchases and subscriptions

Orbit Pro is an auto-renewing subscription sold through Google Play.

What Google does. Google Play collects and processes everything to do with the payment: your payment method, billing details, tax information and the transaction itself. We never see any of it. Google’s handling of that data is governed by Google’s own Privacy Policy and the Google Play Terms of Service.

What the App does. When you open the Pro screen, or start the App, Orbit asks Google Play two things: what the subscription costs in your currency, and whether this Google account already owns it. Google Play answers with the prices, and with a purchase record for anything owned — a product identifier, a purchase token, an order identifier, a timestamp and Google’s signature over them. Orbit uses these only to decide whether Pro is active, and to confirm Google really issued the record.

What the App stores. One boolean, pro_unlocked, in Orbit’s own private app storage. Purchase tokens, order identifiers and payment details are not written to Orbit’s storage, and are not sent to the developer or to any third party.

Cancelling and refunds. Subscriptions are managed entirely in Google Play, under Google’s refund and cancellation policies. The developer cannot see, alter or cancel your subscription. When it lapses, Orbit’s copy of the flag is cleared the next time Google Play tells the App the subscription is no longer active.

5. Information the App accesses

Installed and launchable apps

Orbit reads the list of apps on your device that have a launcher activity. For each visible app, Orbit accesses:

• the app name;
• the package identifier;
• the launcher activity; and
• the app icon.

Orbit uses this information to display and search your app list, let you choose apps for Quick launch and groups, open apps through Android Bubbles, and create local notifications and launcher shortcuts.

This list is read and used on your device only. Orbit does not request the QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES permission; it declares a <queries> element granting visibility of launchable apps, alongside the Google Play billing service entries the Billing Library adds so it can reach the Play Store.

Preferences stored on your device

Orbit stores only the preferences needed to provide its features:

• package identifiers for apps you add to Quick launch;
• package identifiers for apps you place in groups, and the groups themselves;
• package identifiers for apps you hide;
• package identifiers for apps Android has refused to open as a Bubble, so the App can mark them;
• your Quick launch notification mode;
• your light, dark, or system theme choice;
• whether the edge panel is on, which side it sits on, and how far along that side you have moved its handle;
• whether you dismissed the in-app usage tips and notices; and
• whether the Orbit Pro subscription is active.

These are kept in Orbit’s own private app storage, which other apps cannot read. Your per-app language selection is not stored by Orbit — it is managed by Android’s own system language service.

6. Information the App does not access

Orbit does not access, collect, or process:

• your searches, usage history, or which apps you open;
• the contents of notifications from other apps — Orbit does not request or use Android’s notification-listener access;
• the contents of any app the edge panel is drawn over. The panel is a window Orbit draws on top; it does not read, record or capture what is beneath it;
• your contacts, messages, call logs, location, photos, files, camera, or microphone;
• your payment method or billing details;
• advertising identifiers, or any account information.

7. Advertising and analytics

Orbit contains no advertising and no analytics. There is no advertising SDK, no analytics SDK, and no crash-reporting SDK in the App. Orbit is paid for by its subscription, and will not be paid for by advertising.

8. Android notifications, Bubbles, and launcher shortcuts

Orbit uses Android system services to show the Quick launch notification, create Bubbles, and publish launcher shortcuts. App names, icons, and package identifiers are provided to Android system components on the same device, only as needed to render and operate those features.

The App requests the POST_NOTIFICATIONS permission on supported Android versions. You can deny or revoke it in Android Settings, though Quick launch and Bubbles will not work without it.

9. Links that leave the App

Orbit’s Settings screen contains a link to this Privacy Policy. The Pro screen points you to Google Play to manage or cancel a subscription. Opening either hands the web address to whichever browser or app you have chosen; the request is made there, under its own privacy policy, not by Orbit.

10. Backup and device transfer

If Android backup is enabled on your device, Android may back up the preferences listed above, including package identifiers for apps you added to Quick launch, placed in groups, or hid. Android may also transfer those preferences directly to a new device.

These operations are controlled by Android and your backup provider. Backup data is associated with your own device or backup account, is not sent to the developer, and cannot be accessed by the developer. You can manage or disable backup through your device or account settings.

11. Data sharing and sale

Orbit does not sell user data and does not share it with third parties. The developer does not receive your installed-app list, your searches, your Quick launch selections, your groups, or your hidden-app selections. No third-party service receives them either.

Android platform services process this information locally on your device, or provide the backup and device-transfer functionality described above. Google Play receives what is necessary to sell and maintain a subscription, as described under “Purchases and subscriptions”.

12. Data retention and deletion

Preferences remain on your device until you:

• remove or change them in the App;
• clear Orbit’s storage in Android Settings; or
• uninstall the App.

Backups previously created by Android may remain in your backup account according to the backup provider’s retention rules. You can manage or delete those backups through your device or account settings.

Purchase records are held by Google Play under Google’s retention policies, and are requested from Google Play whenever the App needs to know whether the subscription is active. The developer does not hold your installed-app list, your Orbit preferences, or your purchase history, and so has nothing to delete on request.

13. Security

Orbit relies on Android’s application sandbox and permission model to protect its local data. Purchase records received from Google Play are checked against the App’s Play licensing key before they are acted on, so a record Google did not issue is discarded. No storage method can be guaranteed completely secure.

14. Children’s privacy

Orbit is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children under 13. The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children or other users. Purchases are made through Google Play, which applies its own family and parental-approval controls.

15. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the App’s features or data practices change. The revised policy will show a new effective date. Material changes will be reflected in the App or its Google Play listing as appropriate.
